Notes from Wolf Creek

  • The Camp Out:

    The Day started sunny, the kids used the lake all day, the dads got in to cool down. Thunderstorms hit around 5'ish a few lighting stikes close, weather moved out so we could do Broken Arrow Ceremony, most asleep by 10.30 a long day. Great Weekend.

Notes from Camp Cullen

  • The Camp Out:

    The Hot Dogs Friday night and Disney' Mowana on the Dining Room large screen was a great welcome to Camp. Though it was spitting from early afternoon, the weather did not hinder everybody getting lots of activities, I heard 8 timing on the Zip Line from one princesses. The new horse barn make a great start to horse riding. Camp Fire at the chapel had the kids on stage really enjoying themselves. S'mores and movie, Sing, were a great way to finish the day. Great Weekend.

    BJ and all the helpers for being totally on-hand, and making a great weekend. A great team that was able to react to situations fast and with skill.



Notes from Lake Texana

  • The Camp Out:

    We camped at Lake Texana, {not Brazos Bend}. The weather was perfect for camping, the Gator Golf was a hit, nice course, number did the Disc Golf the park has a good course. Lots of Deer out in the evening, lots of Hawks to. Got a little windy on sunday. Good Weekend.

Notes from Sweet Heart Dance

  • The Dance:

    The Dads and Girls had fun dancing and doing party games, the Y staff and DJ made it a nice evening, not a large turn out but still great fun was had by all. The hall at McWilliams was a great location for the event.

Notes from Huntsville

  • The Camp Out:

    Fronts Friday & late Saturday Night did not create problems, Saturday was a nice warm day, warm January weather all round.
    The Survival Skills Activates one of the bigger tasks, the kids created great shelters still standing on sunday after the fronts.
    The Rangers had a nice alligator program the kids had a chance to touch a baby alligator

Notes from Camp Cullen {Family}

  • The Camp Out:

    The Multi Nation Family Cullen had a great mix of families, many with Mum's enjoying what Dads do all the time. I believe the Mum's were more rowdy saturday night around the fire, Dad's off watching the Play Offs
    The weather was warm for January, shorts all weekend.
    Horses from the new Equestrian Center, .22 at Rifle Range, Screamer, Alpine Climbing Tower, Marathon Pipeline, Film Night and More.

    BJ and Cullen staff for arranging for the Play Offs to be played on the dinning room super large screen.

    Ross {manager on duty}, BJ and all their helpers for being totally on-hand and making a great weekend.



Notes from Schlitterbahn

  • The Day Event:

    Thunder & Lighting all day shut Schlitterbahn, for the few Dads that had taken the risk a day out at Moody Gardens was the alternative. The Ice Sculptures were amazing at their Christmas Ice Land, the Rain Forest is always cool and Mario's afterwards made for a good day.

Notes from Martin Dies Jr

  • The Camp Out:

    The front coming though friday afternoon really set up the weather for the weekend, clear skies all weekend, cold at night, warm during the day, perfect weather for camping.
    The Survival Skills Activates was well attended, starting a fire is not easy as we all found out, the kids did great, now my wool socks can do 2 things.
    We had a good amount of kids doing Induction, a great sign for the Nation future.
    The new designs for Tee Shirts and the new Nation Patches were unveiled, lots of great positive feed back { I will be passing on this to BJ / YMCA }

  • The Camp Out:

    The Weather was amazing, friday night the low 50's clear sky, warming to high 70's on saturday. This is about as good as it gets for camping weather. The kids hit the Frio river saturday a few dads joined in, lots of great hiking & biking. The Park is everything that you are told, A+

Notes from Inks Lake

  • The Camp Out:

    The Weather was amazing, the kids hit the water Friday night and did not get out all weekend, Ashley run a fun water sport in the morning. Devils Waterhole got full use. Longhorn Caverns a hour & half, 135 deep adventure enjoyed by a lot of the tribes. Snow Cones from Marleys were the best.

    Next Year lets chat to BJ / YMCA System about seeing if we can do a Pool Party where we do Burgers / Hot Dogs etc on Grills. { to be added to 'remember list' for early summer 2017 }
